Couldn’t resist a book/dogs post!

Christmas 2015 booksI did say I was going to take a break from posting for a while, but well… I have books to show off!

Here’s my pastel-coloured all-Oz literature book haul – my Christmas present from my hubby (he gets a list, I get books without the shopping angst).

Very much looking forward to these reads, all new releases in 2015. Not sure where to start! I’m still finishing up a few Aussie YA books as part of my 6 month catch up blitz (and joining a couple of online book clubs), and I’m finding it hard to break away from all that inspiration while I work on my second YA novel.

I’ll just have to intersperse a few adult books amongst them as I go, but without having a big break from my 9-5 work, I’ll have to continue reading just a few pages at night before crashing. Oh, I also have some nice book vouchers to spend, so that will add to the list – once the shops quieten down.

Meanwhile, here’s how the dogs fared:

Tillie not well

Tillie sleeping off a tummy-ache

Elvis cone

Elvis is in the cone of shame – again

Tillie has eaten something that’s disagreed with her, which happens intermittently (surprising that it doesn’t happen more, with her taste in chicken and cat poo). She should recover shortly, going by past efforts.

Elvis has a ‘hot spot’ near his tail, an itchy spot possibly caused by fleas (except we couldn’t find any) which he proceeded to chew on. Happily we found a vet open yesterday and he’s mending well. If expensively.

At least we take his cone off when it’s food or walk time, or if we go out the back for some gardening, so he’s doing okay out of it, just casting me evil looks every now and again to remind me I should be feeling guilty.

Sadly we’re back to work again tomorrow, albeit for only three days 😉

Hope you all didn’t over-indulge or bite yourselves like these two, and that you received some lovely presents like my books 🙂

Oh, the poor dear dogs, both having a rough time of it lately. Good thing they have good parents to care for them. I wanted to tell you, also, that I really appreciate the books you tell us are good reads, as I am constantly on the search. I only listen to books on tape, because I can listen while I’m working, and it is hard to find good stories. I read to relax in a bubble bath, but reading before I go to sleep…I would probably get one page in before I fell asleep.

  2. Ooh, new books! Always wonderful!

For my own books, I mostly got cookbooks, because I do almost all my reading on the Kindle now (though I got a new one of those!). It seems people aren’t as keen on buying Kindle books as they are real ones. Either that, or I forgot to ask for books. Come to think of it, it may well be the latter…

  3. Books are such lovely presents and I’m sure our husbands love us all the more for making holiday shopping less painless. Roxie loved the photos of Elvis and Tillie. Before she came to stay with us, she lived with 3 dogs. It might explain her “Catitude”. Perhaps she would have preferred little ZuZu to be a puppy? She hopes Tillie’s tummy is better now. ZuZu wants to know if Elvis’ fleas are beautiful. (In A Berkshire Tale, ZuZu gets the words “fleece” and “fleas” mixed up.)
