I have just had the lovely honour of my book being reviewed by Emily Mead (aka The Loony Literate), an 18 year old Aussie book blogger who read an extraordinary 140+ books last year – while completing her final year of high school, thank you very much!
I had looked at getting some bloggers to review Facing Up in the past, but the good ones who read contemporary YA fiction usually don’t accept indie authors’ books to review because they get so many advance copies of great books from the big publishers. But I must have caught Emily in a quiet moment (ie: she’d just finished her studies) and written her a very polite email because she agreed to accept a paperback copy 🙂
Her blog got my attention because it’s always well-written, on point, very fair, funny and VERY colourful. Also she uses Wonderkitties instead of stars as marks for the books she reviews – I can’t resist a cat motif!
Luckily for both of us, Emily enjoyed the book and also brought up a great discussion point in her ensuing blog, about whether it’s important that a character be likeable or not, which a number of people responded to.
What’s more to love?
Four out of five Wonderkitties, of course 😉
*PS Facing Up is on sale as a Kindle edition for US$0.99 right now – plus I also have a few paperback editions left for any interested Australian readers! (contact me here or stay tuned for next week’s blog *cue mysterious music*)
